Derek M. Land
Derek was admitted to the Nova Scotia Bar in 2003, and operates a general practice of law with an emphasis in real estate, wills and estates, corporate and commercial, and civil litigation. He has extensive experience in assisting vendors and purchasers in residential real estate transactions, and is an authorized user of the Land Registration System, having migrated hundreds of properties into the new system since its inception. He has represented clients at all levels of adjudication in the Province, including the Nova Scotia Supreme Court and the Court of Appeal.
Derek has served as Bar Council representative for Bedford, Sackville and St. Margaret’s Bay, and on various Nova Scotia Barristers’ Society Committees, including the Complaints Investigation Committee, Ethics and Professional Responsibility Committee, Real Estate Practice Standards Committee, and the Task Force on Council Size and Composition. He has also published articles in various professional publications. Derek is a former Director of both the Point Pleasant Child Care Centre and the Testicular Cancer Awareness Society, and is an enthusiastic participant in the Halifax Ultimate Recreational League, and the Halifax Sport & Social Club.
